Market Study
Third-Party Grid Verification (TPGV) Project
The Client engaged Arthur Energy Advisors to strengthen the capacity of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) through a five-month intensive field assignment aimed at identifying, quantifying, and developing detailed action plans to address Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses. Contrary to EDSA’s initial assumption that losses were primarily due to theft, AEA’s assessment revealed that faulty metering was the main driver, with baseline AT&C losses exceeding 43%.
The assignment included stocktaking and verification of approximately 9,500 service connections, load assessments of feeders and distribution transformers, development of corrective action plans to improve operational and financial performance, capacity building for EDSA and stakeholders to sustain loss reduction efforts, and implementation of communication and visibility interventions to curb theft and illegal electricity abstraction.
